Rudra-Aksha

In ancient texts such as the Shiva Purana, Padma Purana, and various Upanishads, Rudraksha is revered as a divine bead with powerful spiritual significance.

Rudraksha literally means the tears of Lord Shiva. When these tears of Lors Shiva fell down the sacred Rudraksha trees started to grow from them. Tears are a sign of both gratitude and sadness. And so these beads have the power to give you strength to get over the cyle of birth and death, the power to grant moksha (salvation).

The Shiva-Mahapurana describes how Lord Shiva did penance for thousands of years and then when he opened his eyes, few tear drops fell to the earth .Some key points mentioned in the ancient texts say:

Origin and Composition

The Rudraksha tree belongs to the Elaeocarpus genus and is scientifically known as Elaeocarpus ganitrus. It is an evergreen tree that grows predominantly in the foothills of the Himalayas, as well as in parts of Southeast Asia and selected locations of South East Asia (Java, Korea, parts of Malaysia, Taiwan, China) and Indonesia. The purest and top of the trade beads are though found in Nepal only.

The tree bears small, blueberry-like fruits, each containing one or more seeds, which are the Rudraksha beads. They bloom in May, June and ripen between September to November. Its pulp is hard and remains stuck to its seed. It is kept in water for a number of days and then Rudraksha is taken out after peeling off the pulp

These are plant seeds and contain Aluminium, Chlorine, Copper, Cobalt, Nickel, Iron, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sodium, Zinc, Silicon, Silver and Gold. These give rudraksha the electromagnetic properties.

The Rudraksha seed is composed of several layers, each with unique properties:

Outer Husk: The outer husk is typically smooth and hard, protecting the inner layers of the seed.

Endocarp: Beneath the outer husk lies the endocarp, which is often rough and uneven in texture.

Embryo: At the center of the Rudraksha seed is the embryo, which may have one or more natural segments known as "Mukhis" or "faces."

The number of Mukhis varies depending on the species of Rudraksha tree and the individual seed. Best are the seeds from Nepal.
